Holland Bros. Meats, founded by William J. Holland and his son Terry, began as a small meat stand located at Leighty's Farm Market in Newry, PA.
A second son, Lou, joined his father and brother in the business. Lou's oldest son, Rick, began working at the shop and William retired later that year.
Terry and Lou, the original Holland Brothers, built a butcher shop just down the street from their retail meat stand at Leighty's.
Lou's middle son—Steve—joined his father, his uncle Terry, and his brother Rick in the meat business.
Terry and Lou added a retail facility and moved their business from Leighty's to Holland Bros. Meats current site on Old Route 220 South in Duncansville.
Rick and Steve bought out their Uncle Terry.
Lou hung up his knives and the boys bought his shares of the business.
Rick and Steve built an entire addition from which 95 percent of all products sold by Holland Bros. are processed. The processing facility currently consists of four smokehouses, three coolers, an innovative sausage kitchen, a packaging room and a shipping and receiving dock, all to sustain an ever-expanding business.
The most recent renovation is a handsome remodeled retail area.
A fourth generation of Hollands working in the business includes Rick's son, Brock, and Steve's son, Michael.
